Training Camps


We propose 2 packages:
- O-racing in Portugal - recommended for those who want to race in several Orienteering competitions.
- O-training in Portugal - recommended for those who mainly want to train Orienteering.

Remember that you can create your personal package by combining/changing lodging, terrains, cities, races.

For those who only want some training days, each OL Training Camp will be priced 4 EUR per map. In these cases, registration is recommended to ensure that selected OL Training Camps are available at each date.

O-racing in Portugal (WRE-Évora-WRE Tour Information)

When: 24th - 5th March 2006

What: 6 competitions (of which 2 WREvents) & 4 training days

- 24 Feb: Arrival in Abrantes, pm: OL Model Event
- 25 Feb: Portugal O Meeting Abrantes Day 1 Middle Distance
- 26 Feb: Portugal O Meeting Abrantes Day 2 Middle Distance WRE
- 27 Feb: Portugal O Meeting Abrantes Day 3 Long Distance
- 28 Feb: Portugal O Meeting Abrantes Day 4 Sprint/Park-O, pm: travel to Évora
- 01-02 Mar: OL Training Camp Évora
- 03 Mar: am: travel to Pavia (Mora), pm: Mora International Event Model Event
- 04 Mar: Mora International Event Long Distance
- 05 Mar: Mora International Event WRE Middle Distance, pm: departure

O-Terrains:
- Abrantes: Day 1-2-3: Pine and cork trees on soft hill detailed terrain, changing from nice open wide areas to medium difficulty vegetation ones. Day 4: Park map over city castle and historical areas.
- Évora: 8 top quality O-maps at 5-30' from Évora City. Very open areas on oak/cork trees with some grass ground and soft, very fast running (4'/km), stony & rocky detailed in some parts. Most maps used for Portugal O Meeting last year. Really amazing orienteering around the Monsaraz castle and biggest artificial lake in Europe. Enjoyable sprint course in narrow streets of Montemor-o-Novo.
- Pavia/Mora: Day 1: The terrain is typical Alentejo, or either, it's cork-oak and holm-oak terrain, wavy, fast, of easy running. There are several rocky elements and vegetation will be the usual for the time of the year: fresh, green and short. There are also some paths and is moderately hilly. Day 2: Pavia est WRE: Similar to the Pavia west terrain, but with more rocky elements, more vegetation changes, a few marshes and very few paths. Flat to moderately hilly.

- Abrantes: Rural houses/apartments
- Évora: Hotel Residencial GRAÇA***, situated at 1000 mts from the city walls, 20' walking from center, 2p/3p rooms, with bathroom, airco, T.V, balcony, car parking, restaurant. Ideal for a club/group (max 60p), also the possibility of horseriding, mtbike, trekking...
- Pavia/Mora: Rural Houses in the area

- Abrantes - Évora: 129 Km, 2h19m
- Évora - Pavia/Mora: 44 Km, 0h47m
- Pavia - Lisboa: 140 Km, 1h47m

O-Terrains:
- Lisbon: 6 O-maps situated at 10-25' from Lisbon City. Very different kind of terrains combining different pine forests. Areas flat, steep to very steep, sometimes countour detailed and with some rocks! Courses planned with permanent controls! Don´t miss Monsanto forests where WC2000 was held, the sprint race at romantic old lisbon and sandy terrains nearby the atlantic coast.
